The Hungarian Goulash!
As my visit in the lovely cultural town of Lyon soon turns to its end, I have invited my French friends to taste the Hungarian specialty- the goulash!
I have thought, it wouldn’t be proper to disappear from their lives without making them to taste our national meal!
Waking up quite early today, to be ready on time, as to prepare a soft and tasty goulash takes longer time, I felt really happy:
- to share and to show something typical for our nation with your international friends, makes this World a smaller place!; as it brings the people of different origins closer!
After getting the fresh pork from the butcher in the corner, who could hardly understood, what I was trying to say again))
I had all: I needed to prepare our delicious lunch for today!
Though happy as I was, while listening to the French romantic music, in fact,
I felt the power in my blood for being Hungarian!
Cutting the meat into little cubes, so it really looks well; I was ready to start my creation this day!
Thanks God, I found pikant chilly paprika too and I wasn’t mean to put it into the pot, where the freshly onion was already glass transparent, with the meat on it.
Yummy, I have thought, I can't wait to see their faces, when they take the first spoon of my specialty.
Well, while the meat is cooked, I peel the potatoes, cut them into small pieces, which soon end up in the pot to be boiled.
Red wine is prepared; as it can't be missed and all I have to do is to taste the meat meanwhile and to wait.
The hours pass fast with the good music at the background and with my friends online.
The 21. Century cook!
Bravo, I say to myself, if my mom would see me, she would hold her head and I am sure, she would definitely send me out from the kitchen.
Luckily, she doesn’t see me at this moment, as she is a few thousands km far away from me, so as such, my wings are free and nothing can limit my Sagittarius freedom here.
Besides, why not to have joy and fun while cooking?
Why should I just stay next to the pot and checking it all the time?
It wouldn’t be cooked faster anyway.
Wow, just being online with my great friend when I hear the ring bells.
Wowow, what's that, my guests have arrived half an hour earlier!
Pas de problem, no problem, I am ready))!
Now, I set the table, while naming all the cutlery in french, as my friend has become my teacher.
God, she is so strict, I don’t dare to be a rebel this time!
So I name all the stuff we need to use to taste the goulash!
Ready, they sit down, they look at me and the meal, while I say to them:
Be prepared, its not a light meal like yours, the French!
Excuse us? Our cuisine is fat, they say!
Haha, I laugh hard, are you kidding me?
Ok, let's wait till you taste ours!
Before starting though, I ask them to say me honestly, how they like it!
If they won't, anyway, I can find it out from their body language!
The big moment comes!
…and here is the answer!!!
Aaaah, its very delicious but sooo hot! -they say!
Of course it is, we are hot and temperament people over there,
our national meal must signify it, for sure!
They are so funny and I laugh so much - while being so happy at the same time.
After a month being here, I finally eat something so familiar.
The taste, I was brought up with, the spice so close to my heart, the feelings and memories of the goulash parties, we have had each and every summer.
So many events and memories connected to one great dish.
By the time, I enjoy my meal, my friend drink the wine, so not to feel so much the spicy meat, they have in front of them on the table and in their mouths!
Ok, they love it anyway, its just too hot for them.
As such, I can be satisfied.
….and as we are still in France, forgetting my memories, they quickly cool down my passion!
I must soon realize, I eat again a new taste of the french cheese, one from Vichy!; as each and every region here has its particular one.
Ooh, yummy, I am totally fanatic of it and this time, THEY are the ones, who laugh at me!
- how I can't get enough of this soft, white product every time, they offer it to me!
I am trapped, I must admit it; but is a sweet jail!
For us it was a lovely time together!
Bon apetite to you all! Whatever and wherever you eat!
God bless our meal!
